since its origin, thanks to its position that defines its central role inside the flows passing through the Mediterranean Sea, puts its effort into the development of international agreements. Those agreements are capable of reinforcing its function that, as provided by the Article n°2 of its Statute, consists of "[...] encouraging, with appropriate national and international cooperation, the constitution of educational and scientific points, within the framework of an ever growing integration of Europe with the countries of the southern and the eastern shores of the Mediterranean Sea."

The International Relations Office deals with the agreements for cooperation and exchange with other foreign institutions and coordinates the processes related to incoming and outgoing mobility.

The Office takes into account the indications from the Bologna Process, within the Europe 2020 Strategy, and in line with the agenda for modernization of higher education promotes the internationalization of the University in the framework of the European Higher Education Area.

The Office collaborates with the Rector’s Delegate, responsible for the stipulation of international agreements and with the university governing bodies, which are responsible for the approval and the full academic recognition of achievements during the periods of mobility.

The International Relations Office is in charge of effective coordination of the activities related to the mobility for students, teachers and administrative staff.
It is also in charge of supporting the dissemination of information about the opportunities offered by the programmes of international cooperation and mobility within the university community.

Erasmus Charter for Higher Education 2014-2020

The European Commission has recently approved the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education at the University for Foreigners "Dante Alighieri" which will allow our University to participate in international initiatives and to compete for the funding of a new programme "ERASMUS +" for Education, Training, Youth and Sport in the period 2014 – 2020.

The Erasmus Charter for Higher Education defines a general quality framework that includes the activities of European and international cooperation that an institution of higher education can manage in the context of the Erasmus+ Programme and is the prerequisite for participation in the Programme.

Through the Charter, the University for Foreigners "Dante Alighieri" is committed to respect the qualitative requirements related to Erasmus+ mobility. These requirements concern both the respect of the fundamental principles of recognition of academic activity performed by our students abroad, and non-discrimination of students interested in an international experience, as well as dispense of quality services that support international mobility.

An innovation of the Charter 2014 - 2020, requested by the European Commission for all the institutes of higher education, refers to the inclusion of a strategy for the internationalization in the Charter, along with indications for how such strategies are related to the "European Modernisation Agenda for Higher Education", developed by the European Commission.

By signing the Charter, the University for Foreigners "Dante Alighieri" has committed itself to publish this strategy denominated within the "Erasmus Policy Statement” document" on its portal.
